Netflix will now Charge Extra Bucks for Sharing Account Outside Family

Netflix released a Statement saying that it is testing new services, including one that will enable accounts to be shared outside of a member's household for an additional cost. It is testing the functionality in Chile, Costa Rica, and Peru, allowing subscribers of its free and premium packages to add up to two additional persons to their existing household.

Another option being considered by the streaming platform is the ability for customers on a basic, standard, or premium plan to move their profile details to a different account or a sub account while maintaining data such as watching history and personalized suggestions.

Netflix presently permits people who live together to share a Netflix account, according to the business. However, according to the corporation, the plans have generated some misunderstanding about when and how memberships can be shared, which is affecting its capacity to invest in new material.

The corporation stated that it will test the features to ensure that they were useful before implementing them in other regions of the world.

Netflix lowered its growth estimates in January, predicting that customer additions in the first quarter would be less than half of what Wall Street expected, citing the delayed release of anticipated content as the reason.

Price increases for its popular basic package in the United Kingdom, which lets customers to stream on two devices simultaneously, will increase by GBP 2 to GBP 10.99 per month, while users who subscribe to the basic plan will now pay GBP 6.99 per month rather than the previous price of GBP 5.99 per month.

While the basic plan would jump by one euro point, the standard and premium tiers would increase by EUR one point and would now charge EUR 14.99 and EUR 20.99, respectively.
